Massive Weights On the Move: Discover the Secret Behind a 3,000-Mile Triumph

In a remarkable feat of engineering, India’s Express Global Logistics (EXG) has successfully transported immense modules to Saudi Arabia, underpinning an advanced green hydrogen project. Weighing up to 250 tonnes each, these modules were central to the project’s development. The colossal operation entailed moving 14 gargantuan modules, which required precise logistical coordination due to their massive dimensions: 50 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and 18 meters in height, amassing a total weight of 1,500 freight tonnes.

To tackle this formidable challenge, EXG utilized cutting-edge Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) from their renowned Megaload fleet. The fleet was equipped with 48 axle lines, enhanced by two power pack units and customized spacers to handle the massive load effortlessly. Using an advanced roll-on roll-off (RoRo) system, EXG efficiently loaded eight modules onto vessels. This involved innovative use of ramp plates and stools to ensure a smooth and stable transition onto the transportation vessels.

While the RoRo system saw eight modules safely onto the vessels, the other six modules were skillfully maneuvered to the jetty using SPMTs and lifted into place with the help of crawler cranes. Meticulous planning and cutting-edge equipment ensured smooth sailing for this complex journey. EXG’s precision in ballasting vessels was critical for maintaining stability throughout transport.

In pursuit of growth and innovation, EXG established a joint venture named Megaload in collaboration with the Italian giant Fagioli as of January 2023, expanding their impact in sectors like petrochemical and construction. The venture underscores EXG’s commitment to providing groundbreaking lifting solutions.
